A 15 years ago, just after result SPM 1998 released, I was thinking what are the jobs which offer the highest income and more job vacancies advertised in the news paper. The answer is Finance, Accountant, and any jobs related to finance background. For Finance Manager, it has a special qualifications where I never heard during the school time.
Therefore, I pursed my study in accounting even I haven't had the Basic Accounting in SPM. Finally, I got my Professional Accounting ACCA which are world recognised and has a high reputation and value added to my career path.
After a few years in my career, I realised that my qualification is just a point to enter in a challenge works. Now, most of works are more on the IT and system related. It very good for my career because there was not only accounting knowledge, but I have the IT skills to ease my works.
Recently in the Business Time paper, salaries for the skilled workers in the IT sector and services increased 20% while the engineering and banking only 12% and 15% respectively. In the latest salary guide, those has a talent in the IT , they will enjoy a good salary and pay high in the increment % of salary.
Looking in 2012, the survey views that the sector like IT, accounting, engineering and Islamic Banking will continue to grow and there will be a continued demand for skilled talents.
